Artist description Meet Marlon Diavaughn Taylor, a Los Angeles born, Orange County raised Neo-Soul & R&B artist. His sound has been hailed as progressive and unique as his middle name. From his futuristic syncopated R&B rhythms to the romantic acoustically driven ballads, every track drips with urban emotion and passion. Just returning from Greece in January 2002, Marlon takes the first steps to an international music career in Europe, involving the top Greek record label, The Family, a subdivision of Def Jam and Universal Records. His club beats and tight R&B sounds graced the floors of Athens' dance clubs and jazz night scenes to the cheers and delight of Grecian fans. Within the year, plans to collaborate Marlon's intriguing soul style and roof-raising beats with top Greek & European singers, rappers and producers will begin. Artist History Marlon's traditional beginnings as a club DJ transitioned to the creation of an R&B duet, One Plus One, which gained notoriety on the Orange County, Los Angeles, and Washington stages and performed with top acts such as Troop, Suave and New Edition. As the power of his lyrical skills, his natural mastery of sound and music composition and his amazing stage presence become evident, he was offered the opportunity to work alongside top producers Vincent Brantely (producer of New Edition, Klymaxx, No Authority, Spinners, Shalamar, and Howard Hewitt) and Robb Boldt (producer of Shaquille O' Neal and Paula Abdul). With the lifetime influences of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Babyface, R. Kelly, Montell Jordan and Musiq Soulchild, it is not surprising that Marlon's lyrics reach into the dark corners of the human heart and soul to illuminate the tears and fears, hurts and happiness and raw relationships of life, but never leaving the listener in solitude or despair but always revealing that undistinguishable flame of hope at the end of life's tunnel. Though Marlon's style is deeply rooted in R&B, Soul and hip-hop, it's extremely apparent that his compositions are flavored and enhanced with a vast scope of musical art forms -- from the tunes of the Broadway stage to the hay-covered floors of country music and back to the deep, grunge and punk sounds of rain-filled Seattle.
