Artist History
After leaving school and his career as an Air Traffic Controller, Keith took off around Australia
with a guitar, a backpack and a surfboard. He worked as a labourer, a miner, a waiter and anything else that could keep him on the road. With a natural charisma and a flair for entertaining he soon began singing in Pubs, Clubs and Cafes constantly song-writing about his experiences and developing a deep love of the craft.
Three years later he made it to the UK and France where with new found friend and guitarist Antoine Demarest from Paris, he continued performing and writing. After two years and a lot more experience he returned to Sydney with Antoine and together they started a band called “The Middle Distance” which developed a solid reputation and earned a huge following.
Eventually Keith felt the urge to go out on his own as his love of the Australian coastal lifestyle was now coming through in his writing and he was developing his own musical style. He was still able to earn his daily bread playing “solo” in the competitive Sydney Pub Circuit and is now known as one of the Cities top solo performers.
In 2001 he gathered some of Sydney’s top musicians, went to Ramrod Studios and recorded his debut CD
"The Coast Road" which has now been released to critical acclaim has already sold over 1000 copies locally. It earned him the Rudy Brandsma Award from the Australian Songwriters Association National Songwriting competition, which is awarded by the President to the most outstanding songwriter of the year, after having 5 songs in the finals from over 2400 entries. He also won 3 top ten nominations this year for the Golden Guitars at the Australian Country Music awards and more recently "The Coast Road" was the Australian ABC radios' album of the week.
