Press Reviews
Review from RenegadeReviews:8/23/1999The Quasar Band- "The Hotel Song" I listened to this song at 3 a.m. Saturday night (you can see what a party animal I am) and you know what? It sounded bitchin; I'm listening to it again for the second time right now as I'm typing this. This song feels like 3 a.m. Unlike a lot of ambient stuff I've been listening to lately, this one has real people on it. This is what Pink Floyd would have sounded like now. Laid back style, groovy echo guitar, nice up front bass line. Now that I'm looking at the instruments you used, I can see why it has that nice warm, rounded feel (66 fender bassman/Jazzmaster). Don't know that alternative ambient is what I would call it, to me it felt like alternative jazz, Chick Corea, Brian Auger, meet Pink Floyd. Meat and Rice: Now there is an alternative folk song. 3/4 time half farfiesa organ, harp, weird bass line, nice fat guitar, and hand percussion. About a guy stuck eatin meat and rice for dinner when he could be out drinkin. |
