Artist History
"Jeberrekenelle were cool--you were a cool metal
band." That's all said in retrospect. Were we a
metal band? I sometimes wonder that myself. We
certainly started out that way--to confuse the folk
we played for. But within the year, we had most
people shaking their heads at our arty ways.
The band was formed by Sam and Ananda in the
summer of 1993. During the summer we got Brian
to agree to temporarily be our drummer, and he
decided to stick around. By December that year,
we had recorded and decided to put out a split LP
with another Santa Barbara band, Rugburn (iijima).
A while later we put out a cassette single, and
played on the local university radio station. The
chaos ensued through June 16th, 1994, when we played
our last show. All members have since been involved
in many other fine musical projects. |

Oct 21, 1993.
The Santa Barbara Independent
The third time is a charm, and the third band,
Jeberrekenelle, was, well... charming. I hate to
call the bass and singing guy Ananda Mahto a
sensitive punk, because that sounds like an insult,
but with him it really is true in a good way. The
band's songs are quirkier and more abstract than
the average youth noise punk, and the music has a
sense of humor. Drummer Brian Tamborello is
absolutely the greatest... what you would call a
"pounder." Guitarist Sam Bennett (the same Sam
Bennett who organizes shows and does all sorts of
cool stuff for everybody) has a good nose.
