Artist History
"Our stay on Earth is temporary," singer/songwriter Ethan Elkind explains. "My music is both a reflection and a celebration of that reality." A San Francisco Bay Area native, Elkind credits his upbringing as a major influence on his lyrics. "I grew up in an eclectic community that valued spiritualism, tolerance and a respect for the environment, and I like to explore those themes in my music."
He combines philosophical and often whimsical musings with acoustic guitar playing and melodies that draw from a range of influences within the rock, folk and jazz genres. "People often compare me to Dave Matthews, Paul Simon and John Mayer," Elkind relates. "It's flattering, because those songwriters push the musical envelope while staying true to their folk roots." Now relocated to Los Angeles, Elkind recently released his debut CD "A Locked Box of Treasure" and performs regularly in the local music scene.
