Artist History
Formed by Lou Hallwas in October of 1992,
The Differents orgin began with Mark Pryor (drums)
and Craig Halihan (Bass); all were Taft High School
links. The band began litterally in the garage,
exploring the forgotten possiblities of mixing 60's
R&B with 90's pop. Extensive gigging began shortly
there after, providing them with the "chops"
to cut it in the Chicago club circuit.
Sticking to the simplist means of performance;
smaller amps, etc, the band made it's mark
with a "no-nonsence, staight up Rock, Hit and run,
no goofy BS" attitude, that is still intact today.
The original formation lasted until mid 1994,
recording only an EP ("The Differents"-1993) that
is now currently out of print. With the departure
of Halihan, the addition of Max Jordan III on bass,
changed the bands direction and tone. Eventually
Pryor left as well. Completeing the new line up
was drummer Dan Garrity.
For the next three years, this amazing outfit recorded
"VIVA!"(recorded at King Size Sound labs in 1997)
and giged extensivly in CHicago. With the departure
of Jordan in late 97, Michael O'Malley (The Shakes) took
over bass duties and kept the band alive.
In March of 1999, the band entered Gravity Studios
in Chicago with a new batch of songs. In four days,
the group recorded their 2nd LP, "This Years Model",
with belief, fire and skill. It is currently in
visual production stages with an expected release
in late summer. MP3's of some tunes will be available soon.
Playing their last show with Michael O'Malley in June
at Chicago's METRO, new bassist Wallace joined up.
