Artist History Civil Defense is a Tri-City hardcore outfit hailing from Boston, MA/New Bedford, MA/and Providence, RI. This six piece powerhouse is made up of ex-members of ITI - Intent to Injure (who released material from 1989-1998 on Overkill, Nemesis, Striving For Togetherness, Taang, Moo Cow, Brick, and Bossa Nova Records), Roswell (Hydra Head Records, 1996) and Corrin (Hydra Head Records, 1996). The line-up is as follows: Fed up with scene politics and the current state of hardcore, Civil Defense formed to play raw, sincere, and brutally honest hardcore. This is evident both in their reflective and critical lyrics, as well as in their powerful and aggressive music style. This band has tapped into, and has drawn from, the energy and consciousness reserves that defines great hardcore. Civil Defense is a straight edge band, but do not feel the need to press the issue, or use straight edge as a marketing tool.
