Press Reviews
As long as the evolution of acoustic folk music is in the hands of people like Bob Westfall, it should enjoy a smooth and steady rise in popularity.James M. Tarbox Knight Ridder Newspapers In a Heartbeat is yet another indication of his talent for penning smooth, sentimental material that at times displays the influence of adult stars like Lyle Lovett and BruceCockburn. There's not much twang here and none of the lefty politics that make Cockburn's collected works so feisty, but what Westfall shares with his adult-folkprogenitors is a talent for making each lyrical phrase sound as if it's been formed in the blood. Few singer-songwriters ever reach that level of honesty, which is reasonenough to celebrate Westfall's work. Tunes like the skiffling lead cut |
