Artist description
Bang Lassies focus on one aspect of "early" music - popular lute songs written between 1550 and 1620. These compositions are surprisingly similar to our current idea of pop music: they are made up of verses, choruses and bridges and contain texts covering themes of love, hate, bitterness and death. From the original tabulature, we have distributed the parts between two guitars, bass, drums and vocals. For the sake of continuity, we have written additional melodies when neccesary and have thoroughly revised the lyrics, the point being not to faithfully recreate the original songs but to demonstrate their spirit and ingenuity in a modern context. |
