    Artist History
Melodic mayhem hailing from the 'middle of nowhere' - Monmouth, Illinois. AsH, the INSANE Messiah, picks at your every thought with lyrical prophecy's, even you can't believe. Shall he remain locked inside his tiny Cage? Or shall we release him upon the world to forever alter your fragile mind? Straightjacket combines, Old school heavy metal riffs with a new school twist, unlike anything on the market today. Their arsenal combines a drummer without legs , a 7 string guitar attack, with piercing vocals that violate your mind, and a stage show matched by few, in the underground. Straightjacket brings high energy to the stage, going straight for the throat, and leaving the crowd screaming for more. There is no other act in the Midwest that does what Straightjacket does. You've got to see it to believe it. Straightjacket was formed in 1999, as Bloodfist. In 2001 they changed the line up, by dropping the bass player and first guitar, leaving the lead to Mr. H2O's aka "PANIC", who switched to the heavier sound of a 7 string. The music was completely rewritten eliminating everything they had in their arsenal . The focus of the band's goals turned more professional, in hopes to score a record deal. Late September, 2001, the band placed 3rd out of 12 bands battling it out on the stage for the Ultimate Title of Midwest Champion, at Metal Wars. They returned a year later to rank second, beating the champion from the year previous, as well as earning the titles of: "Best Stage Presence & "Best Guitar Solo." They also graced the stage with Pavement Records Recording Artist LUNGBRUSH, who headlined the main stage. Everytime Straightjacket plays out live, they gain a larger fan base, and attract more attention from area promoter's & local radio shows on underground music. Straightjacket is also getting request's for thier music on an Austrailian radio show, that supports underground music world wide called "The Metal Chamber" on 104.5FM. In September 2002, Straightjacket played with the legendary Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society & Brand New Sin, at the Pigpen in Clinton, Iowa. They have since been asked to return on December 8th, 2002, to open for Primer 55, Dope, Pissing Razors, & Skinlab.
