Artist description
Sarah's highly acclaimed debut single 'Who You Gonna Run To' was released last year to rave reviews and that was just the beginning. Sarah Jane follows that release with 'Wish I'd Never met You', which was produced by Jimmy Greco and Ray Contreras (the hottest production team to come out of New York in recent years, having just written and produced for Jennifer Lopez's new multi platinum album 'J. Lo') and yet this is just a taste of what is yet to come, with her debut album scheduled for release in March 8th 2002.
Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Sarah Jane's involvement in music was inevitable and from very early on. As well as her own undeniable passion for music, her first big influence was her father, Jim Hudson, who had been a bass player / singer in the 'Kingbees' and highly successful showband 'The Dreams'. Her mother Denise and Grandfather had been classically trained musicians. 'I grew up in a musically rich environment...my parents were always playing Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Beatles and Fleetwood Mac, while I was bringing home the newest cuts from Wham, Madonna and Prince'.
Three years ago at 19, Sarah Jane's songs landed on the desk of Peer Music 's Creative Manager Andrew Greasley, who flew to Dublin the following week to offer her a publishing contract. Within a couple of weeks, the deal was signed and Sarah Jane was in London, collaborating with acclaimed writer / producers Ray St. John (Sade's 'Smooth Operator'), Toby Bourke (George Michael) and Simon Tauber (Gina G's 'Just a Little Bit'). When Peer Music flew her to New York for a writing trip, she never imagined that she would fall in love with the Big Apple and take up residence there.
One night this past spring, producers Jimmy Greco and Ray Contreras walked into an Upper West Side venue when they heard an angelic voice coming from the back room. There on the tiny stage of the Dark Star Lounge they saw Sarah Jane Hudson performing an acoustic set of her own original songs. The mysterious and haunting melody of 'Wishing You Were Here' made such an impression on them that they immediately asked her to let them help her record a demo of her songs. There was an instant chemistry, from which came a partnership which defines the unique sound of Sarah Jane Hudson.
'Wish I'd Never Met You' was released on February 22nd.
