Artist History
These instrumental compositions were written during a weeklong writing session in April of 2001. The idea was to compose as many pieces as possible regardless of whether or not I liked them. They are forms of meditation through the creative process. Meditation through creation is something that is often overlooked. Most writers I have talked to place emphasis on looking for the muse or what inspires them to write. I have not found this to be true for me. Rarely do I hear writers talk about how they have this need to write. If I don’t write for a day or two I get very out of balance. I enjoy the writing process and the quiet place it takes me. There is a sense of peace I discover when I write. I started researching more traditional means of meditation and learned the same process exists in other traditions. The mind needs to be stilled, the focus becomes the breath or the mantra or the process of creation. The connection to the larger plan slowly becomes evident. |
