Artist description
Frankie and the Avalons is the latest project from Tim Bowen, who, as a founding member and principle songwriter of The Boneheads, helped establish the first wave of Philly garage/punk/surf music at the legendary Hot Club. Musically and lyrically, Frankie and the Avalons is Pop music with a capital P! Combining lush harmonies, toe-tapping tempos and eclectic electric guitar driven arrangements, Frankie and the Avalons evoke images of The Mamas and the Papas, The B52s and Abba for the 21st century. Along with producer/drummer George Manney, participant and member of countless first-rate musical ventures (the driving force behind the infamous "Last Minute Jam" for 10 years at South Street's J.C.Dobbs), and the gorgeous vocal harmonies of Clutch Cargo's Su Teears and sultry New Yorker Lynda McLaughlin, Frankie and the Avalons engages the listener with a quirky edgy infectious blend of new music for the new millenium. |
