Artist description Matt Rabbit are four teenage boys straight out of the suburban jungle of Denville, NJ. They are educated in a certain institution called Morris Knolls High School. The group has a unique style which blends the best of many different genres (i.e. jazz, blues, metal, classical, punk?)to create a sound that is energetic, melodic, and soothing as much as it is 'pop-friendly'. We are avaliable for playing birphday parties, confirmation parties, republican parties, or whatever other kind of party and/or event you can think of. Give us an e-mail and we'll see what we can do. Artist History The band Matt Rabbit goes way back a few years, to the days of Valleyview Middle School. Throughout the ages, Matt Rabbit has had various names, but trust us, it's better that way. When the trio of Cory Lyman, Jon Stelman, and Matt Johnson entered high-school, things finally started to become good and professional. In their sophmore year, the band welcomed its fourth member, bassist/singer Darren DeFranco, who finally gave the band the certain "oomph" that they had been previously missing. The four are currently engaging in their junior year of high school.

Group Members Cory Lyman - singer, guitar. Jonathan Stelman - rhythm guitar, backing vocals. Matt Johnson - drums/percussion, backing vocals. Darren DeFranco - bass guitar, backing vocals.

Additional Info The name Matt Rabbit has a very uninteresting story, but if you must know, this is it: One day, while contemplating a better name for themselves, the group decided that it would be neat if the band was named for the drummer, since, typically, he is the least appreciated member of a band, and they wanted to give Matt a little more credit. So they plugged his name into a band/song name generator that they found on a good website called musiciansfriend.com, and out came Matt + (some animal). Whatever animal it was, they didn't like, but they liked the idea of an animal. So then, the word 'rabbit' was thought up to fill the spot. The name sounded good to them because of the assonance and consonance, so they thought it would be a good. However, it wasn't certain until later that night, when they were riding bicycles around the neighborhood and saw a rabbit standing in Ian's yard. This was obviously a sign from God, so the name has been used ever since. P.S. It is also cool that all four members just so happen to be born in the Chinese year of the rabbit (1987), and the roots of Matt Rabbit are traced to 1999, yet another year of the rabbit...Very, very interesting, if I do say so myself....
