Band Bio:
Loserville
Been travelling highways, been travelling long ways, now we're coming your way, we're coming home...
Swedish Americana band Loserville release their first CD in April of 2002 and make their first trip to USA for a series of shows in New Jersey and New York.
It all began in september 1997 when singer/songwriter Jorgen Johansson and fellow guitarist Niklas Paulstrom recorded some songs on an old tapedeck in a small studio apartment in Hassleholm, Sweden.
These songs were recorded for Lars Paulstrom, long time musician and Niklas older brother, in order for him to decide weather or not to get involved in a project that a few months later would result in a band called Loserville.
The trio wrote several songs and rehearsed on various locations around Hassleholm before they decided to make a serious recording session.
In March of 1999, drummer Antti Vuorenniemi and guitarist Patric Berg joined the trio as studio musicians when recordings began at Studio Faladen in Lund.
What first looked like a studio session became a bigger project almost instantly. Patric and Antti joined forces with the trio and when the group decided to try out their songs in front of a live audience, bass player Roger Munch and organist Mats Widell were hired as the two final bricks of the band.
Today, two years later the seven piece band Loserville has released their first full length CD "Southbound" and the band is a huge sucess in the southern part of Sweden.
One of the most important reasons to the band's sucess is without a doubt their reputation as a powerful live band.
Loserville has been aired in SVT (Swedish National Television) and in Swedish and Polish radio both with music and interviews.
Loserville plays their own kind of American east coast Americana music.
Jorgen Johansson's influences as a songwriter often finds it ways through the American east coast, it's highways and it's urban landscapes.
Johansson lived in New York and Boston during the mid 90's and after returning home to his native Hassleholm in 1997 he began writing songs about Hassleholm in an American kind of way.
He became aware of that there are lots of Loserville's out there.
Within the city limits of Loserville there are a lot of different influences between the seven citizens wich makes the music special and intresting and maybe even creative in an new kind of Swedish-Americana way.
