Artist History
Originally formed in 1987 in Oberhausen, West Germany, SUBWAY RIDERS is mainly a one man project of singer/songwriter, J. Falbe. Combining guitar-based popsongs with twisted, surreal lyrics about love and longing, heaven and hell, soul-search and dreams, the SUBWAY RIDERS' previous line-ups were famous for their explosive live-performances which earned them a cult following. Gerard Malanga, Andy Warhol's former factory-sidekick and founder of the magazine "Interview", even once compared the SUBWAY RIDERS to the Velvet Underground, saying that the band recaptured the Velvets' feeling, keeping the magic alive. After re-locating to Hamburg, Falbe now concentrates on his songwriting and work in the studio with part-time collaborator/co-writer M. Pach. |
