    Artist description
DR.JAN(guru) grew out of British/alien solo artist Jan Linton`s desire to turn his recordings into more of a band orientated sound, and to further the spiritual revolution in music. He released his first solo cd "Truenirvana" in Japan, in an attempt to cosmopolitanise the Tokyo music scene and then introduce it to the West. Recorded in 10 languages with an international approach, sung in English, Thai, Japanese, Tagalog, Turkish etc. Subsequently Dr Jan(guru), as he has become known expanded to include the talents of Intelligentsia`s Mirai on electronic percussion and occasional production, and bassist Noribumi Uchida. Since 1999 the band Dr Jan(guru) have released several cds. One of note is the "ETERNAL DESIRE MACHINES OF DR JAN" a 4 track EP A club sounding cd, inspired by Jungle, drum'n' bass etc, while still retaining originality. Jan is also gaining attention in the UK again, with vocal/ambient tracks such as "STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS" being perhaps one of Dr Jan(guru)`s recorded highlights to date, effectively mixing dance beats, synth atmospheres, and voice to communicate something spiritual. A return to meaningful songwriting, which is sorely needed in the current souless airwaves! In a similar vein is the latest single "INNER SANCTUM(CAN`T YOU FEEL)", "REASON THAT I LOVE YOU" and Jan`s contribution to Princess Diana inspired charity cds,"SARAJEVO".

    Press Reviews
The music here is a superb blend of both electronic dance & a sort of folk-ish feel to the songwriting. Really grabbing my interest was the liner note about the Australian embassy having canceled his visa & that some of the songs on the album relate to that experience. Bearing a truly astonishing vocal resemblance to U2's Bono on the opening title track, we begin a fascinating journey through a number of dance styles, but tracks like "Sensitive", the darker edges of "Sarajevo" & the jungly beats of both "Desire Machine" & "Stream Of Consciousness" are definite picks, as is the closing version of the title track, which stretches things out & slows the pace somewhat. A definite case for visa cancellations if this is the result, quite outstanding. Terry Allen - hEARd magazine, Australia
