Artist History For the 40 years that he played drums on the road, he was very fortunate to play with some wonderful and creative people (mostly in the NE part of USA, and in the latter part of his career, here on the West Coast.) He played JAZZ all of that time, and for two years early on he travelled with a great Dixieland band out of Nawlins called 'Roy Liberto and the Bourbon Street All Stars.' They worked all the major Dixieland showrooms in the country. including 'The Metropole' in NYC and 'Nicks' in the Village, both the premiere DL clubs at that time. In Cleveland they worked the 'Theatrical Grille' and contracted to play all 'Sheraton Hotels' -- it was one of the best Swing/Dixieland Bands in the country; Kind of a cross between Louis Armstrong and Louie Prima. Later on, Rukkus' music was dedicated to Be-Bop which was his first love. Out of respect, and because many of these people are gone, he wants to name some of the cats he played with: The CRESTS, Sonny Stanton, Ruth Brown, Shotgun Kelly, Bullmoose Jackson, Charles Earland, Pat Martino, Bugalloo Joe Jones, Wendell Byrd, Tommy Tucker, Chino Feaster, Roland Prince, Erik Kloss , Chris Woods, Tina Brooks, Ted Curson, James Spaulding, Joe Alexander, Eddie Baccus, Eddie McFadden, Carlton Drakard, Melvin Lastie, Albert Ayler, Don Goldie, Big Chief Moore, Henry Red Allen, Rubin Mitchell Trio, Dakota Staton, Grant Green, Lonnie Smith, Rhoda Scott, Buddy Terry, The Joe Borland Trio , Mundell Lowe, Tony Zano, Don York, Roy Merriweather, Red Prysock, Carmen Leggio, Civera Jeffries, Frank Wright, George Adams, Johnny Coles, Billy Gardner, Eddie Chamblee, Benny Green, Eddie Kahn, Frank Vicari, Walter Bishop Jr., Eddie Henderson, Groove Holmes, Graham Bruce, Warren Gale, Scott Barnhill, Al Molina, Dizzy Reece. Rukkus would also like to mention that during his career he played at Mardi Gras in new Orleans, worked in Atlantic City when it was the premier 'black' summer resort (1950-1965), and in the 60's, appeared on 'The Mike Douglas Show', 'I've Got A Secret', and recently recorded with Eddie Harris and Jimmy Witherspoon just before their recent passing. It's not just to mention their names, but all of the memories, and wonderful things that he learned from these wonderful people, who happened to be musicians. It was a joy to hear them perform, and I can't begin to tell you how it must have felt to be on the same bandstand creating the kind of magic they did together. However amazing all of that is, DJ Rukkus is still kickin it and is currently focusing on the West Coast's underground DnB and Ambient scene - suffice to say he has quite an established base of old-school to add to the future sound of music!

I played SOLO for the UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL party for over 4 hours, all TECHNO, TRANCE, and JUNGLE. I played SOLO at N.A.M.M. in Anaheim and Hollywood, CA., for the last 5 years demonstrating wonderful new CERWIN-VEGA gear. I played at 'the PERCUSSION INSTITUTE of TECHNOLOGY'along with Jonathan Moffet, Chad Smith, Doane Perry, Blas Elias, and Terry Bozzio, (all of who absolutely killed the crowds with spectacular performances). I played for two days SOLO (8 hours every day) all SALSA music in front of over 250,000 people at the 'CINCO De Mayo FESTIVAL' in S.F. CA., where I featured the music of a company called 'LATINO SEQUENCES', which were arranged by one of the greatest Latin pianists and composers in the world 'RAFAEL MARINO', from MIAMI, FL. I also played in San Francisco at 'CARNIVAL', and the 'WEST L.A. MUSIC SHOW' demonstrating MACKIE, and LEXICON products. I appeared at the 'AUDIO-ENGINEERING SOCIETY SHOW', 'the EDDIE MOORE JAZZ FESTIVAL' with Donald Bailey, at YOSHI's in Oakland CA., and the 'BENICIA JAZZ FESTIVAL' with the great BERNARD 'PRETTY' PURDIE. With all these names and places behind me, it may look like I've been busy, but YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET!
