    Artist History
Dear Fans Der Drums I was five when I accidentally fell into music. Whilst attending a get up and jam night with my parents at a local pub, I came across an un-manned drum kit. Whilst sitting at the drum stool, I noticed that the noise around me had grown and in order to counter act this I had to play louder. When the noise died down and I could hear my idle bashings again, I realised that I had been playing along to some old blues standard with some old people, and the audience had erupted. All I had been doing was dropping the sticks up and down on the skins to make noise, and all of a sudden I was John fucking Bohnam!!! Anyway, shortly after that I remember my dad coming home with some bits of old drums and cobbling up some kind of kit. I have to say that I didnt know my arse from my elbow on that thing and only managed some sort of beat by copying my brother who it turned out could play a bit. The late 80s rap beats were easy to play but I was crap. Anyway, at the age of six, the drum kit ended up in the shed under bits of bikes and cars, so my life moved to a new direction when the most important things at that age were Matchbox cars and getting your mates to laugh every time you said poo. Years went by and I joined secondary school. They had a drum kit there and I remember seeing someone good play them. He could do proper beats with Hi-Hats and everything! I sat down and tried to think back to the days of Adamski and Tone Loc and by sheer fluke, I had rhythm. I could do the beats with hi-hats as well! In fact, after getting my own kit for my 13th birthday, I found out that I was quite good at copying my brother who was, unknown to me, a good drummer as well. At 13 then, I found myself at a school concert playing Easy Lover by Phil Collins, with the school band. When I came off stage, my mum said I looked like a cross between Animal from the Muppets and Keith Moon. This stage presence has become one of my traits on the drums. I have no excuse dear reader, I am just a dirty head-banger! The Adagio Saga: When I was 14, I joined my first band, Adagio. We were a punk band in essence but Oasis were big at the time and no doubt we sounded like them too. Well, that is a massive overstatement. We were ekljrashgrljkhbsdgf *( Wow, I just invented a word that means shite!). Any way to cut a long story short: Huge energy and charisma + no talent = Great press! Things went tits up and we disbanded. Himself - Me By this time, I had developed a love for the drums and in particular, John Bohnam and Led Zeppelin. I had joined a performing arts school in Croydon and was drumming loads. I had also taught myself a bit of Guitar and had started to compose a bit for my GCSEs (Namely Double Diesel!). I got a B ! Since then, there have been a few more bands but I have not felt more comfortable than I do now drumming for Xyla. Himself - The Composer Anyway, The music I write, I like. Im not trying to impress or look good. Im just fed up of wanky shit we hear on the radio. I am a writer who combines angst (which according to the music press is uncool) with my own personal love for all things random and profound. I have little time for the music press. They seem to dictate fazes and fashion music among different genres. People should be more honest with their musical opinions and not follow what is on the front page of NME. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying new bands are all rubbish, but the press are so quick to create the next big thing so they can collect credit, that they don’t give time for an artist to develop. If what noise going into your ears is good, Then be honest about it. If its not, wait for more and if it still doesnt tickle your fancy, Then It must be REM.... err...I mean Shit. ( Sorry, They really really really grate with me - Everybody Hurts - Not as much as me it would seem!). Anyway, I’m still finding my feet as a songwriter and getting better everyday and most importantly having fun. Come and see me live if you get the chance. It will be a great show. Until then, I hope you: · Like my Tunes · Check out www.xyla.co.uk · Try new food and most importantly · Stay Cool!!! Until We Meet...Love Himself xxxx
