Artist History
After years of playing solo acoustic gigs at coffee shops and hiring local musicians to play local bars that only want to hear "Stairway To Freebird", singer/songwriter Chris Gonzalez embarked on a mission to create a band of musicians dedicated to writing and performing great American music.
He first crossed paths with Travis Hopper, a songwriter who had just moved to Dallas from College Station, Texas. Hopper had his own band going in College Station, the Blackbirds, that played rock & roll in the vein of Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones. With similar influences and a shared appreciation of "literate" rock & roll, the songwriting connection between Gonzalez and Hopper was instant. The next step: find a rhythm section.
After a four-month stint with Mike McAloon, former drummer of the emo band Eniac and Houston ska legends the Vent-O-lators, The Americanos auditioned a second drummer by the name of Jarad Brown. Originally from Carrollton, Brown moved back to Dallas from San Marcos where he studied music and percussion at Southwest Texas University. A versatile drummer, Brown's main influences are in the rock genres. He also studied Jazz and Latin percussion.
As it is with most band formations, finding the right bass player (or actually any bass player who isn't a frustrated ex-guitarist) is damn near impossible. Audition after audition, some when the bass players never even showed up, seemed to lead nowhere. Then Gonzalez remembered his friend, Trae Doss, that played bass and sang for a band called Kush, which disbanded a few months prior. Gonzalez had never heard Doss play before and only knew him through the business of their day jobs, but a try was well worth their time. Doss accepted the invitation to audition and, well, the rest is Americanos history.

Press Reviews
"The Americanos played a diverse, high spirited set featuring their masterful musicianship, excellent song writing, and even a few well timed jumps... The band seemed equally comfortable playing slow melodies or cranking up the volume. As is usually the case, the crowd seemed inspired when The Americanos started rocking."
