Artist History
I grew up in Stratford Connecticut and began playing music when I was eight. My family and I were heavily involved in the Drum & Bugle Corps activity and I developed my musical chops playing the soprano bugle until I was seventeen. The Drum Corps activity has challenged me to get the best out of myself and overcome any self imposed barriers. It also served as a fundamental music education, not to mention a preview in partying like a rock star. Soon after, I began playing synthesizers in a band with a friend from the Corps. He had a basement fulI of keyboards and synthesizers, and that was all I needed to realize what road I was on. I was always interested in synthesizers. I was about 7 years old hanging out watching Saturday morning TV in my feet pajamas and saw a girl playing the "Moog". I put down the Coca Krispies and jumped around the room thrilled there was a machine that made weird sounds. Is there any cooler device? I quit the band a year later and began assembling a MIDI studio in my parents basement. I cut my teeth writing my own songs and learned quickly what worked and what didn't. In the process, I taught myself about synthesis and recording. I finally moved out of the damn basement and went to Chicago a few years later to stay with my girlfriend at the time. For a while, I was a regular on the Chicago Songwriter's Showcase, a weekly radio broadcast featuring local unsigned artists. I became known as the "home studio whiz kid." Within weeks I began working with other artists who submitted to the show to get their recordings acceptable for airplay. That's when I realized that the nuts and bolts were equally rewarding for me. Over the years I've evolved into a songwriter, sound engineer, producer, keyboard player and most recently stage performer. For the last 6 years, I've performed in cover bands singing lead and backup vocals while playing keyboards, tamborine, shaker and occasionally faking acoustic guitar. I played colleges, clubs, street festivals and corporate gigs around Chicago and the midwest. Traveled as far as Rhode Island and Montana (see link). My love for tweaking knobs and creating sounds won in the end. My day job is working as an audio post production engineer at Chicago Recording Company (see link). I record and mix TV and radio commercials. Occasionally I do ADR (dialogue replacement) for films and TV shows. In a nutshell, I create the final audio mix prior to broadcast. Thank God I do this for a living since this is what I would choose to do with my time anyway! I still write and produce songs with the same passion as before, but now it's in a professional studio which I must say is great! |

Press Reviews
"You know how you hear a song in your head and you hum it all day? Yesterday I got Splinkie, and it just seems to get better every time my brain plays it. Great stuff!
