Artist description
the nighties are five industrious young men from Washington, and an integral part of the basement band movement that started in DC in the early part of the 21st century. They have varied backgrounds in music, but are united under the common goal of rocking the best way they know how. They play songs influenced by the sounds of garage rock, out-sound, emo-core demagoguery, and post-punk deconstructacore. Yo La Tengo, Pavement, the Kinks, Jamie Foxx and Johnny Cougar (pre-Cougar Mellancamp) are all touchstones in their heady brew. They are a little bit dangerous. Or so it's been said.
