Artist History
Erasing History for His-story.
Late in the evening of September 4th 2000 at a place called Panama Java Café, in the lackadaisical town of Panama City (located on Northwest Florida's gulf coast) a voice came over an open microphone announcing the split-up of the Mean-Nothings. This news, however, fell on deaf ears. As a home recording project, started by artists Shawn Cozad and David Hayes, the Mean-Nothings had more recently begun to perform live. The duo was involved in multiple music projects at the time and had only recorded a handful of songs to distribute on cassette tape. They were just beginning to draw a small group of fans when they found themselves struggling with irresolvable creative differences. It followed that Hayes would continue the project by proliferating on the songs he had written. Shortly afterward he left Panama City with newfound love and enlisted band mate Dana Attari to tour the eastern shore of the U.S. After an 8 month stint in New England, the couple moved to San Diego, CA whereby playing at various open mics, Hayes met Arman Augusto and became involved in his band The Walking and vice-versa. All three members of Mean-Nothings have been involved in acting projects ranging from theatre to student, independent and feature film work. As a performance group that combines music, spoken-word and drama, the Mean-Nothings have become an anomalous hook for some of San Diego's more popular art house and lounge venues.
