Artist description Raleigh, NC… Somewhere in the youth of imagination lies a delicate spark. Sometimes it flutters or even fades while others glow and burn bright with time. Algernon was created by fate. What once was a dream in the young minds of four musicians is now a reality- and that reality is wrapping its arms around the necks of all who listen. In 1999 three members of Algernon, Tim Hilliard, Chris Grass and Kevin Enlow, began the journey in what is the epitome of a garage band’s home; a storage lot for used furniture, tools, and everything else people get tired of looking at. -Tin siding, electronic gates and one “mature” and grumpy tenant. We’d probably still be there if it wasn’t for the neighbors, who lived a mile away, complaining about the loud music late at night. You can’t impress everyone. Our good city’s police, however, did stop by, from time to time, to listen to the sound. They were friendlier than expected and all of them music coinsures. We had “groupies with a badge”. We were going somewhere. We needed a singer. Algernon auditioned for their front-man and Brent Paddack answered. In March of 2001, Algernon was complete with four members and ready to put their faces into the wind, and plant their feet on level ground. Face-plant. It’s never that easy. So you get stiffed at a gig, your equipment malfunctions or your guitarist looses an eye. How does anyone go to rehearsal and come out with 6 stitches? Nevertheless the music flows. This bands music is an effect all of its own. Algernon wants to bring the intensity of their music all the way to the back row. This alternative/rock sound is better than ever before.
