Artist description
The Rite Of Passage quintet has an unwavering commitment to rock – pure and simple. With powerful female lead vocals taken from the pages of the Heart and Led Zeppelin songbooks; a soulful guitar mastery with touches of Joe Satriani; a background of aggressive keyboard wizardry and a rock solid rhythm section - it’s their seamless versatility that can ultimately lend itself to a wide variety of material.
The Rite Of Passage sound has been described as progressive rock tinged with blues and metal. Songs range from original instrumentals to vocal showcases and all-out jams. This is the beginning of a beautiful thing…

Artist History
Rite of Passage began when Tyler Kaufman, guitar player extraordinaire, met Joshua Walti at Joshua’s own home recording studio in the East Bay. Tyler had been a founding member of a group called On Common Ground and at this point in the latter half of 1999 he was ready to take his compositions in a slightly different direction. The two began jamming and recorded some demo material with a revolving group of drummers and bassists but it wasn’t until early 2000 that the musical stone began to see some polish.
The current lineup has gigged in the East Bay and has shows lined up for San Francisco's Voodoo Lounge and The Contra Costa County Fair with Quiet Riot. |
