Welcome to my Meet Joe Patrick
"In his own words"
written by Joe Patrick
My passion and love for music began at an early age when I started singing at my church. I continued through high school to fine tune my talents and abilities taking lead role sin the school's musical productions.
Soon after graduation, I joined a band called BMW who was recording their first album. The experience helped me realize my life's work would have to be in the music business. After BMW, I started working with the very talented, Kevin Morgan. The two of us then formed a new group, Morgan-Patrick. For the last three years we have had the good fortune to be the most working act in our region, playing out at least four nights a week. We have received local radio play, television and press coverage. We've also had the privilege to open for such great acts as Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, Montgomery-Gentry, Clay Walker and Lonestar.
I have just finished recording my own debut album in Nashville and am very proud of this achievement. I am going to try to prove to the recording industry that I am ready, will and extremely able to take on any challenges that a life in the entertainment industry may have to offer.
My greatest influence is Garth Brooks. What I like most about him is his great stage presence as an entertainer. I've even been lucky enough to see Garth perform a few times, my favorite being a show in August, 1997 in Central Park. I was working as a waiter at a local restaurant when a couple of my friends showed up with a U-Haul van and said "We're going to the Garth show in Central Park, do you want to with us?" Even though I was scheduled to work for a few more hours, I begged my manager to let me go home sick. I was off. Here we are, it's 11:00PM and we're leaving for New York City. I think among the four of us, we had 40 dollars, not even enough for gas. So, I pitched in my credit card to fill the tank and we were on our way. It took us eight hours to get to NYC and then we had to wait for about 4 hours before they would let us in the park. From there, we were herded like cattle to the next gate. Once there, we had to wait 3 more hours in the hot summer sun. People were dropping like flies from heat exhaustion. It was all worth it in the end because I was lying on a blanket not more than 30feet from the stage. Not only did I get to see Garth; but, also Billy Joe and Don McLean. When Garth and Don sang the song "American Pie" it just blew my mind. I will never forget when Garth, his guitar, and almost a million fans sang "Unanswered Prayers." it is great singers like Garth that have inspired me to take this path. I told myself... "I have the energy, time, determination and an unwavering belief that anything is possible if you work hard enough." Some people say I'm a pretty good singer too.
