Artist History
The Robert Gotcher Band was officially formed in Dallas, Texas in November of 2001 when four people with a passion for life and music, all with the same vision, joined forces for a common goal. What is that common goal? To create a sound not only unique and intriguing to their audience, but to convey a message of reality and love through their music. “To connect with our audience is one of our key objectives as a group,” explains Gotcher. “We want to convey our message in such a way that draws people in and leaves them longing for more. Plus, we just love doing music together. There’s an intangible element there of which we can’t get enough.”
Gotcher has been songwriting and performing for a number of years as a solo artist, even on occasion with some of his now current band members. Carlyle McCullough has played percussion with Robert since 1999. Margi Norris teamed up with Gotcher and McCullough in 2000. “We were sort of a group for a while, but not officially. There was something missing. In November of 2001, Darin Burris, having talked with Robert about his lack of a steady bass player, came to see Gotcher perform at a club in Fort Worth, TX in order to see if Gotcher’s sound even interested him. “The minute I heard Rob I knew there was something really cool going on. I felt a true kindred spirit with his music and his message. I told myself ‘I’ve got to be a part of this!’ The rest is, as they say, history. After a few ‘trial’ rehearsals, Gotcher knew he’d found what had been missing. So, with Burris joining, the Robert Gotcher Band became official.
Gotcher says, “Expectations are high. We believe that God has given us something special-not your status quo of a band. We know that we are going somewhere…and we are excited about the journey. The chemistry that we have together musically and relationally is undeniable. We’ll see you at the top.”
