Artist History The pop-rock band Pretty Monster formed at the end of 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band, which began as an offshoot of their prior bands formed in 1995, Brighter Later and Will, mainly consists of a duo claiming to be brother and sister. The vocalist Jenny Messmore and guitarist Dan Murphy came together out of sheer love for music and a shared affection for the late Jeff Buckley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Fiona Apple, Elliot Smith, Captain Beefheart and a whole slew of other well-known and obscure artists. Currently Pretty Monster is working diligently writing songs, recording, performing occasionally in their hometown, enjoying random, $.99 late-night breakfasts, and playing $5.00 Pai Gow Poker. Nevertheless, the main goal of the band is to stay focused on writing good songs, performing to their best ability, and joining forces with a record company that allows for creative expression and embodies a willingness to work with the band. Pretty Monster believes that their strength lies in their love for music and songwriting. Like all great dreamers, Pretty Monster believes it has potential. They may seem easygoing and good-humored but they are prepared to rock you like a hurricane filled with dandelions
