Artist History
SILICA BLISS is a Melbourne based pop/rock band featuring musicians Daniel Carr and Stephen McGlaughlin. Daniel (originally from Canada) and Stephen (from Australia) first met in Europe, busking in the streets of Prague. Spurred on by the popularity of their original songs, Daniel decided to move to Australia and, together with Steve, recorded their self-titled debut album SILICA BLISS during late 1999 and early 2000. The album is available on the band's internet site www.silicabliss.com and has been receiving rave reviews. |

Press Reviews
' Rarely is this column offered something so fully formed and assured as this. In fact, never. Silica Bliss is the pairing of Melburnian Stephen McGlaughlin and Canadian Daniel Carr, who met busking the streets of Prague. Their resulting debut is an exalting collection of 12 sublime bits of pop. Dan Carr's vocals coruscate, sending one straight back to Pet Sounds; his melodies and harmonies are just stunning, particularly for an unsigned, debut artist. McGlaughlin contributes a large slab of the instrumentation, demonstrating both sensitivity and inventiveness in his arrangements, and the sound is further inflated by guest instrumentalists. The tracks are self-recorded and mixed by Doug Brady and the sound is rich and sensuous, an immediate attraction. And well, the songwriting is pretty damn strong too. I won't be surprised if these guys have been snapped up by a major by the time you read this'.Inpress Magazine 17/5/00 |
