Artist description
A frenetic kaliedoscopic swirling of noise and music that never alights long in one place. It is music that references ideas as well as emotions and the themes are struggle, confusion, ecstacy and loss. It is the sound of a salmon fighting it's way over waterfalls toward the place of it's conception and birth to spawn again and landing instead on the dry shore in convulsions as it suffocates. It is exclusively improvised music recorded directly to stereo with no overdubbing. |

Press Reviews
This band is guaranteed to produce a sound you haven't heard before. Much of their music resembles a landscape of strange, furry alien creatures making cute, squeaky noises, accompanied by meandering, ambient guitar and drum sounds. The furry creature sounds are coming from the guitar of experimental improviser Sean Murphy, through a rack of effects and a computer program that he designed himself. You'd never know that strings and a pickup could produce such an intriguing sonic collage. Murphy's also able to wring from those six strings tortured wails that sound like the slow, painful death of a digital cat. Pyroclastic Flow are pioneers in both electronic music and Avant-Garde improvisation. Noah E. - Listen.com |
