Artist History
Voice is the vessel between inside and outside. For me, singing is where my heart drops in, without a by-your-leave or a second glance. It is where the requisite slinks off, and the melody falls suddenly, smoothly, into place.
When I sing, I touch the same vague conviction reached easily by a loving hand, or stirred by the old passion of leaves grown ruddy. We each quicken to our private dance. What matters, to me, is that these separate dances are performed; that, in the performing, the choreography blurs fluent.
In rare moments, when we are given the space to wonder at the bare bones of life, to bask in silence and presence, we all ask the same questions.
I sing to tap into this well. I sing because I must; because what isn't shared sometimes isn't felt; because what isn't felt is a lost opportunity. The vessel, in my mind, isn't nearly as important as the passage as the lines penciled into the maps of our lives, and slowly, with time, into the countenances with which we greet each other.
Our roots sway to the same meandering dance. We all move to the oldest melodies. When I sing, I give of myself, and peace is left. ......
