Artist History
In 1999, the seeds of Mannix were sown when New York singer/songwriter Joe Mannix formed a band with drummer, Chris Peck. Joe, an accomplished musician, dedicated to the age-old craft of songwriting, had just finished writing a collection of eclectic pop tunes. Songs from that collection would eventually become the band's critically acclaimed debut album Pretty Strange.
Upon the release of Pretty Strange, Mannix and Peck began their search for a band that could perform the songs to their full potential. The duo eventually found bass player Toby Graham, an Australian transplanted to New York, and guitarist John Kasiewicz, from Connecticut. With the addition of Graham and Kasiewicz, Mannix took the songs off Pretty Strange and brought them to the stage, in an energetic and powerful live performance.
In 2000, Mannix went back into the studio to record their second album, Come to California. The double-disc, concept album described by PopMatters.com as a "first-rate set of quality roots rock," relays the tale of one man's search for salvation.
Mannix blends classic pop with roots rock to create a powerful mix of songs, driven by strong vocals and carried forward by exceptional musicianship. The eclectic variety of sound that this band creates will keep any music fan enthralled.
The band recently completed an extensive tour down the East Coast that brought them from New York to Texas. They were delighted by the hospitable and receptive crowds they met upon the way, and are striving to grow their fan base though continuous touring and promotion of Come to California.
The growing popularity of the band is evident in the recent influx of traffic to their official website, mannixrock.com, and the rate of CD sales, that the band continues to increase through grassroots efforts.
