Artist History
Whether it is from fantasy or from our everyday life, Andy Tubman's words and voice permeate with an honesty that is rarely found. Andy mainly identifies himself as a writer, "I love the buzz you get when you are not able to rest until an idea is complete". Though he is always writing, for the past year he has hit the road, honing his energized solo and band performances that Andy says, "allows me to really explore the songs." Though he has performed since high school, it wasn't until college that Andy started playing and writing his own music. While studying for his Music Therapy degree, Andy was exposed to music ranging from Gregorian Chants to Rag Time to Beethoven. These diverse influences can be heard quite clearly in Andy's music. In one set an audience might be taken on a lilting journey through a "Bubble Gum World" only to be jolted upright by the in your face, balls to the wall, performance of "Face". In addition to writing and performing, Andy loves to be in the studio recording his own, as well as producing, singing or playing on other people's music. "I could live in the studio, it forces me to really be in touch with my filter".Lastly, when asked, "Who are your influences?" Andy responded with "Cat Stevens, Prince, Beniamino Gili, Sade, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, U2?should I continue? Chopin, Chris Whitley, Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, Miles Davis, The Police, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, my dad, Aaron Copland, The Clash, Johnny Cash?should I continue? Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra?Everyone always asks who my influences are. It's pretty dependant on my mood. There is so much great music floating in the ether |

Press Reviews
"Andy is hip to the one-moment-in-time nature of exploring love and anger on stage..." Nashville Music Guide
"Andy's music has depth -- both lyrically and musically. He's believable, dynamic and prolific. Andy's not flavor of the moment." Warner/Chappell |
