Artist History David Mongomery started writing music at a very early age. After completeing an album of dark- wave/eletronica called "The Worship" he decided to take his engineering/artistic skills and ear for great sound to a deeper level. Protomartyr was formed in early 1999 while playing guitar and keyboards for One Last Wish, fronted by his close friend Nick O'bryant. After years of meeting and trying to work with an assortment of dillusional, non-ambitious, singers and musicians it seemed the intelligent and well written music of Protomartyr was destined to demos. In late 2001 David M. met KiddyCadaver's vocalist Vlad Leval in the local Atlanta rave scene. A scene that they had both stayed alien to. Vlad remembers the night clearly,"I had driven all the way from fucking Columbus to this rave and unless I'm on alot of goddamned drugs I find all the happy candy shit annoying so I was walking around hating everyone because I couldn't be as stupid as they were. I was walking into the hardcore/jungle room and the first thing that caught my eye was this scary guy with dreads standing against a wall in the dark by himself. I immediatly walked to him and asked him if he was by chance a musician. He didn't even aswer me, instead he made me follow him to the car were I first heard the unfinished Protomartyr." From that point it was decided that these masterpieces of pure evil and hardcore industial must be on stage. Singer Nick O'Bryant from One Last Wish was then recruited to play bass and Drummer/friend Blake Jones, who was also work- ing with many other metal projects at the time, was recruited to add that fine onslaught of accoustic drums. Soon the name ProtoMartyr had become more than just a project name, it was a Revolution.
