Artist History
Sonafield (so-nah-field), hailing from Seattle Washington, is a rock trio with edges of pop sensibility that finds it's musical and inspirational home among bands such as Our Lady Peace, the Foo Fighters, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Remy Zero, Pete Yorn, and Chris Cornell. Sonafield's cast of dedicated musicians includes Jason Lackie (guitar/vocals), Matthew Probert (percussion) and Paul Springer (bass).
Since the group’s inception in 2001, Sonafield has worked consistently to write, perform and create opportunities to present their earnest guitar driven sound. In the past two years, the band has shared the stage with groups as diverse as Glen Phillips, Luna Park, Yeek Yak Airforce, Common Heroes, Pris, Quiet After Nine, the Humidiflyers, the Drop, Loveless and the Goodnight Trail, Purusa and Valhere to name a few. As a testament to their abilities, the dynamics of Sonafield's music allows them to meld well within a variety of event/show lineups, always adding new faces to their growing and loyal collection of fans.
Sonafield's latest offering, Operations of the Unseen, was independently released in the winter of 2002. This album focuses on the frustrations, desires and hopes that have long fueled Jason's (singer/songwriter) work...telling tales of angst, love and loss with an underlying sense of optimism. With the positive response to the record and their live performances, Sonafield is quickly proving itself to be a contender in both the Seattle music scene and beyond. Currently set for '03 are brief tours of the West Coast (summer and fall) and consistent performances throughout the Northwest.
Through the commitment and support from the local music community (i.e. Endless Vertigo Music, Prepaid Friends, the EVM Fan Army, the Milkbar, the Brick House, Grass Roots Productions, Echo Siberia, Spec Media, Lift Music, UW Soundbites, Rainy Dawg Radio and the PLU Cave), Sonafield is prepared for, and looking forward to the many opportunities still to come. |

Press Reviews
"Mid-temp indie rock hymns, combining introspection, vulnerability, and the capacity to rock out."
Erin Whitcomb, The Daily
"Some of their tracks sound like they could have been written by REM, and that's testament to their songwriting ability."
