Artist description
What is it about Pushing 33 (formerly Under Construction) that makes them one of Michigan's most popular and exciting live acts? Maybe it's the energy and raw emotions being shared by both the band and their fans. Perhaps it's the tight knit unity these guys display while on stage together (150+ shows in 2001 will do that), or maybe it's because Pushing 33 just flat out rocks.
A jammin' blend of acoustic driven rock and bar room antics have dropped jaws and won the band fans with every new club they play. Even former V.P. Albert Gore was nothing but smiles and praise when he was quoted as saying, "Great show. Loved it all!" after seeing them at rally in his honor. With comparisons ranging from Dave Matthews Band to Dexter Freebish, the band's eclectic flair has won them more than just a rabid fan base. In 2001, Pushing 33 was listed on 89fm The Impact's "top 10 bands in Michigan" while West Michigan's Music Revue enjoyed the bands "spirited delivery" and "impressive ability to kick it up a notch".
Pushing 33 is currently in the studio recording their 3rd album, which is due out in the fall on Big Tuna Records. Though they have hired Chuck Alkazian (Bliss 66, The Old 97's) to produce their current project, they haven't forgotten what has gotten them to this point. Pushing 33 still continues to tour and give back to their fans doing free shows, and events such as the East Lansing Earthday. There's no telling how far this band can go, but one thing's for certain, they'll be Pushing 33 the rest of the way there. |
