Artist description
Over twenty years ago, a new star in the sky started to shine a little brighter. Yanick Carpentier (Vocals, guitar) (coincidentally born under that unusual phenomenon) followed a path he hoped would lead to rock stardom. As soon as Yanick learned to talk, he wanted to become a rock star. A few years later, he joined with soulmate Terrence Timmins (Guitar, vocals) to form his first rock band.
In 1999, addition of sex symbol Louis-Simon Bastien (Bass, vocals) and the loudest drum player in the world, Christian Roy to the already existing Jaymie formed the perfect sound coalition. Jaymie became a band that combined the hardcore/punk power of At The Drive In and compelling melodies ŕ la Corey Hart, reminiscent of 80's pop music. A moving combination set to reach masses and outstanding live performances. As Yanick says: "If I don't fall down the stage or hurt myself during a show, I won't feel like I gave people their money's worth.".
Over twenty years ago a new star in the sky started shining a little brighter. Yanick Carpentier (Vocals, guitar) coincidentally born under that unusual phenomenon followed a path which he hoped would lead to rock stardom. As soon as Yanick learned to talk, he wanted to be a rock star. A few years later, he joined with soul mate Terrence Timmins (Guitar, vocals) to form his first rock band.
In 1999, the addition of sex symbol Louis-Simon Bastien (Bass, vocals) to the already existing Jaymie, including the loudest drum player in the world Christian Roy, formed the perfect coalition of sounds. The result: Jaymie a band that combines the hardcore/punk power of At The Drive In and compelling melodies ŕ la Corey Hart reminiscent of 80’s pop music. A moving combination set to reach masses and to attract crowds with an outstanding live performance. As Yanick says: “If I don’t fall down the stage or hurt myself during a show I won’t feel like I gave people their money’s worth.”.
In April 2000, 5 song E.P. entitled “Between a shadow and I” was recorded and released on More Romance Records. This latest recording received an enthusiastic response from the local newspapers, fanzines and radio stations. The songs, “Laughing Stock” and “Staples” as well as songs from their first self released CD (JAYMIE, 1998) were featured on Burlington Vermont’s 99,9 the Buzz radio station “Home Brew” show receiving weekly air play.
Other milestones include being a finalist in the well reputed Polliwog contest where they received an honourable mention from the jury. In November 2000 Jaymie played the Medley in Montreal, just to follow with a sold out show at the Montreal’s Spectrum in April 2001. Their strong stage performance earned the praise of the bands they played with, Jawbox, Doughboys, I Mother Earth, Grim Skunk, Sandbox, Satanic Surfers, SUBB and the Planet Smashers.
A previously unreleased track « Holding You Down » is featuring on Musique Plus’ 1-2-3 Punk Vol 2. compilation and will guarantee them even more consideration. At this time, Jaymie is working on new material with the help of producer Jonathan Cummins (Doughboys, Bionic, One976).
