Artist History
it all started one day in kutztown, pa when a friend of mine had a guitar, he taught me first position chords and how to listen for sounds. mother bought my first guitar, which i still use to this day. i've been in many different bands, have tried a lot of musical approaches until one day, under the pressure of my friends and fans, decided to call everything something. it doesn't get serious until you actually try to classify something. so hellican was born. i have been writing and recording for a number of years, and the stuff on the website, is probably selections of more complete or 'polished' songs. i haven't tried to 'sound' like anything in particular, and most of the songs were born in an hour or two. i would say to myself, what do i want to hear now, or what kind of mood lets me know that i can communicate it well and effectively. thanks to all that have pushed me to do this, because i wouldn't have otherwise. |

Press Reviews
"hellican-glass dreams in houses: James happens to delve into just about every genre imaginable, yet does so with respectfully. from the stone rose's like 'final stone' to the more folky 'anyday would be fine', james captures us and brings us into his world. there are no crazy guitar solos or raging builds, but 'glass dreams in houses' is one of the best home-studio four track albums i've ever heard" Sean Aurilla, The Manic Press |
