Artist History
Raised on a diet of British Rock, Alternative, and 80's New Wave Sour Deluxe's songs reach out between waves of overdriven guitars and driving rhythms to grab the audience with catchy hooks and melodic vocals. Sour Deluxe's music is high impact, angst ridden, over-medicated pedal rock. |

Sour Deluxe's "Prozac Kitten" is a throwback to all that was good about growing up in Boston in the late 80's. This kids have had a steady diet of Pixies in their breakfast bowl, mixed up with Mary's Danish and some Throwing Muses thrown in to boot! A thrusting fuzzed out guitar rushes us in, while the lead guitarist lays the hook with his fiery solo. We're laid back into the verse as the fuzz fades away to let the singer, Jamie Jacobs lays down her smooth groove. Jacobs has a powerful voice that cuts right through the music with some fantastic harmonies and incedibly produced backing vocals. Overall this song has a powerful force, driven by a strong bass line and a stomping drummer, leaving the guitarist free to sculpt the sound around the vocals. "Manchester" is an epic, meloncholy journey that Liz Phair wishes she could sing. The Sour Deluxe signature sound is complete with the driving force holding up the lead players. There is a nice breakdown in the bridge where the song is taken down to it's bearest form, only to be built back up into a chaotic eruption of guitars, vocals, and that feeling. That feeling you got the first time you heard Sunny Day Real Estate play "In Circles", that feeling that almost knocked you over at the last Spiritualized show, that feeling that this reviewer has a hard time putting into words... This band is a tight, rocking group that is going places. You would be foolish not to sample some Sour Deluxe.
