Artist History
An Edict is a proclamation having the force of law - an order or command. These young men have chosen to follow the order from the commandments once written on two stone tablets thousands of years ago. This is the force of law they stand for. This is what they will proclaim.
Edict began as an idea. That thought was transformed into action as this group decided to stand up for something more than themselves.
The change happened on New Year's Eve 2000 during a show at Willamette U in Salem. That night, the band was stopped in the middle of their set for speaking out about their beliefs. It seems as though they've faced opposition since the beginning. And ever since, they've been laughing in that face. "Bring it on," says Phil, lead vocalist.
Edict began playing with .Rod Laver, Spoken and local band Falling Up. They were given the opportunity to play at the Tooth and Nail Skate and Music Fest ('02) with such bands as, Stavesacre, MG the Visionary, PAX 217, ABG, Kutless, and Hangnail. Edict has joined the Extreme Tour for the last two years and just performed at Tomfest / Portico '02. They've built a loyal following - an average of 300 people attend each show.
The members of Edict consist of Quami, Mike, Phil and recent addition, Tyson. All four of them share a similarity that has drawn them together. It's bonded them - enabling the group to be of like-mind, with strength and an undying passion that comes out in the music. Their first album, August, portrays a message of hope, truth and love. These are the qualities that have been integrated into each one of these young men's lives. Edict shares this message because of the great love they have for that which unifies them. This force is Jesus Christ. |
