Artist History
INTERVIEW MAY 2003 with Mark Robinson from "The Drive" Magazine - original copy: One speed - full speed. “Since their formation in 2000, original copy has been rocking the punk and rock n' roll scene constantly. Coming out of literally nowhere (a.k.a. Wilbraham, a small town in Western MA) these guys are blowing away everyone and everything in their path. Fusing backgrounds of straight up rock, and the power chords and harmonies of pop punk, this band really knows what it takes to be on top. The band's teenage line up includes 15 year olds Chandler Quintin, Tom Kogut, and Bradlee Tee - each with their own uniqueness, which adds to their success. Seeing their age before hearing them is a big mistake when you’re talking about these guys – as they say, “It’s so tough when you’re young.” Playing shows with tons of local acts and touring acts, original copy has put a firm foot as to where they stand. Opening for touring acts such as The Goodwill, Overlook, Fake Id, Grover Dill, Sonny, Big D and the Kids Table, The Know How, and many others, they've gathered up quite a big following. Headlining several of their own shows isn’t a big deal to them either. Chandler says, "Man, I hate and love playing last and headlining. I mean, it’s hot that we're last and we're on the top of the bill, but come on, I wanna play and get in the pit and rock out with the crowd!” The band’s energetic stage antics and sense of humor appeals to a wide range of people, making them crowd favorites. “See, our music basically appeals to everyone, the rock crowd, the punk crowd, the poppy crowd–anyone regardless of age can relate to our music.”-Brad. “Yeah, and our main goal when we play is to put on a show and do good rather than play a show like usual.”-Tom. All these things about original copy are great, but to others, these things may seem average for such a band. True, but the shocking thing is that they all are barley in high school and have already accomplished what many bands get done 3 years ahead of and 3 years older than them. Already offered a few deals on small labels, these guys are bound to go somewhere. These kids have got it all, they’re funny, talented, respectful and supportive of every band in the scene–they take nothing for granted and rock out doing it. original copy is definitely on top of its game, and I promise you, you will see tons of them in the future. There is only one original copy.”original copy ; Massachusetts ; Chandler Quintin, Tom Kogut, Bradlee Tee ; www.originalcopy.net -Mark Robinson– “The Drive Magazine”
