Artist History
Cameron Meshell
If life were a song, Cameron Meshell would sing it.
He would also write the lyrics and play the music.
A musician in every sense of the word, the 22-year-old taught himself
to play drums, guitar and keyboards. He began composing music 13
years ago and during those years, he has written and performed
dozens of alternative rock songs that defy categorization by blending
a wide range of musical styles. His voice is a gift that lifts his
music to heights that have brought accolades from critics and fans.
Cameron's growing popularity at clubs in Shreveport, La., inspired
him to embark on a small successful East Coast tour in 2000 and 2001
that took him to Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C.
His hometown entertainment magazine, Forum, said Cameron "manages
to defy esotericism and become an overdue salvation from the mundane
and mediocre." The magazine called his music "jazzy without being traditional, often
sentimental, more frequently original and possibly trend-setting."
Cameron earned an enthusiastic response opening a sold-out concert in
1999 for Collective Soul in Shreveport's historic 1,636-seat Strand Theatre.
A year later, the Atlanta-based Creative Loafing magazine called Cameron
and his band the "next-big-thing sound" and said, "If you want to say 'you saw
'em when,' you better catch them now."
He has released four CDs of original songs. His latest effort is a 5-track
sample of his music, songwriting and vocal talents at their best. He wrote
all five tracks on which he also plays guitar, drums, keyboard and piano.
