Artist History
“With soulful voices like honey and overall passionate presence, Sandcastle Theory can’t go wrong with these well produced tracks. Fans of Live, The Calling, Counting Crows and similar artists will like this!” New Rock Underground-Randy Haber
The response seems to be unanimous for this great new acoustic rock combo from Guelph Ontario. With a brand new CD and video in their arsenal, Sandcastle Theory is taking the Canadian music scene by storm in a very short period of time. This band is moving very rapidly up the ladder of the music business since the completion of their debut CD EVEN, which was recently released on their own label TK13 Records.
Sandcastle Theory is the brainchild of songwriters Tim Tibbitts and Kal Mollison who needed an outlet for their songwriting. The resulting EVEN, was produced by Mollison, along with Noel Webb, and executive produced by Tibbitts and uses some of the finest musicians in the city of Guelph which is renowned for its contribution to Canada’s music community. Mixed by Brad Ferringo (Yakoo Boys, YBZ, Whigfield) and Mike Borkoski (Alanna Myles, Melanie Doane) this collection of songs truly stands out among indie releases, and definitely holds its own among commercial releases.
The first single “You Got Me” was released to internet radio 2 months prior to the release of EVEN and shot straight to #1 on MP3.com’s acoustic/rock Canada charts and remained there for over 11 weeks straight. The amazing rise of You Got Me prompted the band to shoot a video for the song which is being serviced in Canada to CMT, YTV and the Much family of stations.
Sandcastle Theory’s popularity is staggering considering the short time of its existence. After only 3 shows they had secured an agent with one of Canada’s premier agencies and high profile legal representation. They were selected as one of the top 10 indie bands in Ontario by supernova.ca (Canada’s largest promoter of independent music), they receive over 1500 hits a month on their website, are featured on over 150 internet radio stations, have started being added to commercial radio right across Canada, have done support slots for bands such as 54-40, Big Sugar, Bif Naked, Tuuli, Live on Release, The Rascalz, Scratching Post, Pocket Dwellers, Mudmen, and multiple Grammy award winner Speech from Arrested Development as well as others. With their fan base expanding everyday there is no telling where this band may end up, but we do know they will get there fast and by their own rules.
