Artist History So I (tim) walked into the Bagel Shop on a bright Sunday morning in early march of 2002. Justin was behind the counter, and he suggested that our group.. not yet a band.. play at the local Battle of the Bands scheduled for May of that same year. I considered it for a fraction of a second and plainly said "no thanks." Later that week, I consulted Paul.. and Nick...and Ethan...and then approached Frank to be our trumpet player.. By the end of March, we had started practicing on a heavy basis. Three to Five times a week, we came together as an inspired bunch.. with eyes set on playing our hearts out on a night unprecedented in Mount Olive history. The big show came, and we took a glorifying Third Place.. among already established groups.. and set a foothold in the brewing local scene. However in late July, Nick and Ballroom Astronaut parted ways according to seperate interests..and having known a brother band .. Halfway Home.. breaking up concurrently, we decided to talk to them about a replacement bassist. The result was a change in the permanent lineup, which included James on bass...and Joey on his shiny new trombone. (he had never played before) The rest is history. Today we rock. ..today we play the music that has inspired us to become the dashing young men of our time. We see ourselves as visionaries in a resurgent age of ska. Ska isn't dead.. it is merely dormant, and its cohorts and supporters are among us. There is much work to be done.. so expect to see Ballroom Astronaut ushering in this glorious new era. Ska forever.
