Artist History
Billy Estrada is a 25 year old guitar player from Illinois. His playing style is a product of a lot of his musical influences fused together as well as his own unique developed sound. From metal to standard jazz, rock to slow ballads, Billy Estrada continues to strive to be a versatile musician. He started playing guitar at age 15. After 2 years of playing with a few bands, he discovered his love for instrumental music particularly those guitar driven and oriented ones. He poured countless hours into honing his musical skills, he practiced religiously day in and day out often times sacrificing his social life as a growing teen. He furthered his musical skills and knowledge when in 1995 he attended a conservatory of music school in his native Philippines. There, he majored in classical guitar under the tutelage of Maestro Butch Roxas and took up minor classes like music theory, sight singing, arranging and counterpoint. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, Billy wasn't able to finish his music degree, after 2 years in the music school he dropped out and moved to the US. Currently, Billy approaches his instrument quite differently compared to when he was teenager. Right now, he still write instrumental guitar tunes on his 4-track studio every once in a while. Because, of a different lifestyle now, he doesn't have the luxury of spending countless hours with his guitar again but in his heart he is rest-assured that his love affair with his instrument is life-long. |
