Artist description
A rousing band from San Luis Obispo, California, THE SWILLTONES are constantly defying category! a foursome of riotous country twang, salt-of-the-earth vocals, and rockin' roadhouse swagger, these guys always guarantee a real hell-raisin' good time! THE SWILLTONES pound classic Country & Western, Honkytonk, Rockabilly, and Rhythm & Blues into a sound all their own! Their roster of original tunes springs from talent, energy, and a zeal for American roots music, bringing audiences a seasoned sound from previous band experiences each member has had. Formed in 1998, THE SWILLTONES hit the local stages with their raw energy and cow-punk attitude, and quickly hurled themselves onto the Roots / Rockabilly scene. The word of mouth on this band was soon spreading like wildfire! Soon they were being asked to join other bands on stage, and were invited to play at various festivals around California. They have performed regularly in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, and at local venues all along the Central Coast of California. In 1999 they were invited to perform at the "Sideburn Circus" in Bakersfield, the "Hot Rod Deluxe" party at the L.A. County Fair, and at the Ernie Ball/Music Man year-end holiday bash. In 2000, they have been invited to play at the California Mid-State Fair, the Rock & Art Festival at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, and have secured an opening slot for the Hootenanny 2000 warm-up show held in Bakersfield, CA supporting such acts as Hank Williams III and The Reverend Horton Heat. After receiving such a warm welcome, THE SWILLTONES decided it was time to hit the studio. In 1999, they put together a 6 song EP, "Slop", so that their fans could swill a little of their live experience. On the disc they recorded some of their most raukus songs, such as "Ode To Cowboy Bob" and "Drinkin' Up The Jammies", as well as the ever-popular "Chaindrinkin'". "Slop" has also received extensive airplay on local FM radio stations KOTR and KCPR, and is available through the band and on mp3.com. The band consists of four regular dudes, just a bunch of plain folk playin' real music in the name of fun. Catch them if you can! |
