Artist History
Kristofer Vio was born on 1.1.1958 in Stettin, Poland. At the age of four he had his first violin lesson. After finishing High School, Kristofer Vio studied at the Conservatory in Stettin graduating in "Classical Violin" in 1978. At the age of 16 Kristofer Vio started to be interested in Jazz. This led him to creating of several Jazz Bands. With these groups he participated successfully in several Jazz Festivals. (1978 in Breslau, where he won first place in the instrumental category, 1980 at the "Traditional Jazz Festival" in Warsaw: prize for the best band). At this time Kristofer Vio became also known in the Polish music scene as Pop Musician and Composer. In 1986 Kristofer Vio moved to St. Peter-Ording in Germany, where he started to cooperate with the Folkmusic group "Bernstein Trios". With Kristofer Vio's composition of "De Fiedler" the Bernstein Trio reached the final round of the "Grand Prix of Folkmusic 1991". Since 1993 Kristofer Vio has been living in Hamburg/Germany, where his reputation has grown due to his original compositions and his versatile and flexible violin playing. Kristofer Vio's extraordinary talent has become more widely known through TV and radio appearances, tours through Europe as well as his own CD productions. |
