Artist History
The original members, singer/guitarist Chelsea Keen and lead guitarist CK Flange pieced Keen together in August of 1998. Shortly thereafter, they began playing live shows and were a big hit in their hometown. Their lineup also includes bassist Nate Pearson and drummer Jesse Easter. With Success on their hands, KEEN began to spread their sound to the northern California regions, playing regularly in Stockton, Sacramento and the bay area. KEEN was hand picked to play the KSJO stage in the official 2000 X Games in San Francisco. They ignited the crowd and were subsequently asked to play a local venue at the SoFA Music Festival in San Jose. KEEN has played with such nationals as STAIND, Stereomud, The Flys, Oleander, Simon Says and others. They have also shared the stage with regional acts Pressure 4-5, Luxt, Dredg and many more. KEEN's song Quiet is currently receiving specialty airplay on Reno's KRZQ. They have sold out of the initial 1,000 copies of their debut CD "What's With The Blue Hair?" The band has recently completed recording new material, and expects to release Swallow, a 6 song EP in early 2001. |

Press Reviews
"Out of all the bands we play on "The Scene" Keen has real star potential". Guy Dark, program director, KRZQ On its first disc, KEEN has created its own distinctive sound, mating the crunchy psychedelic rock of bands such as Tool and Jane's Addictions with the pop-sense and dramatics of artists like Live and Sarah McLachlan. Several of these songs could be big radio hits if anyone was brave enough to play an unsigned artist. - Mark Earnest, Reno Gazette-Journal music critic |
