Artist History
Chicago-based Asher Love was born when frontman Casey Hess enlisted his friend, drummer Greg Winsininski, to help him flesh out the rough outlines of his self-penned songs. After Winsininski relocated to Chicago from Boston, he and Hess holed up in Hess' basement apartment and began recording their demo. Asher Love, whose name is taken from Chiam Potok's novel My Name is Asher Lev, jokingly refer to their first demo as "The Cave Sessions," given the "cavernous" nature of their recording space. After adding bassist Jeff Nelson to the lineup, Asher Love began performing their unique folk-rock around Chicago. Their self-recorded full-length debut was released in the spring of 2000 on Mission From Dog Records. |
