Artist History
Exploding with raw energy and passion, the dent’s music is best described as exhilarating power-pop. And after a decade of honing their songs and their sound, the dent is poised to share its vision with the world.
Shortly after they started performing covers as high school freshmen, the members of the dent learned to express their creativity by crafting their own brand of music. Ten years later, the dent has come to embody intelligent pop music.
Not only is the dent’s music laden with irresistible hooks, it also possesses a unique hybrid of emotions and dynamics. Soaring melodies are beautifully juxtapositioned against a backdrop of raw guitar. Lead vocals are as potent and effective upon a raging scream as they are amidst a subtle croon. And as swirling harmonies gracefully interweave with hypnotic rhythmic motives, the music radiates perfect unity. The dent has truly mastered the marriage of extremes: sensitivity and aggression, angst and contentment, rage and elation. Their sound can be likened to no one.
There is no denying that the dent has a unique vision to offer modern music. Let them share this vision with you.

Press Reviews
***** (out of 5)
Warning! Intelligent, twisted, pop rock contained herein!
Almost laughing at the human condition, the dent (yes, its lower case) comes screaming out of (seemingly) nowhere with a collection of witty, extremely well produced/arranged/performed tunes.
Each musician is able, equipped with superb instincts. Lead singer Mitchell Linker is an extraordinary find, melding interesting multi-part harmonies with spot on, upper register vocal work.
Offering such as "Suicide Honey" ( I know you have been torn to pieces / I know that you’d be a sorry wife / but when we make love our pain increases / why don’t we share a sorry life?") and "When I get over myself" are lyrically eccentric, and it’s worth a chuckle or two.
"Simple Girl " (a current Rhythm and News/WRRV "On-Stage" radio show staple) is as hooky as can be, lending a nod to the ghosts in the punk arena of old. "Silent Laugh" is another stand-out, with a very cool fast paced syncopated bridge.
The dent, rounded out by Jeff Norberg (guitars, vocals); Dan Rowe (bass, vocals, piano) and Dennis Cotton (drums) have released an important recording that tackles the challenge put forth by today's alternative rock radio to find the next wave. "Beauty Cries" not only rides that wave with ease, but just might be instrumental in changing the direction of the flow.
